Pink Diamonds

Origin
Pink diamonds have only been found in a few mines across the world. The Rich Golconda river in India, Brazil and Tanzania all produced notable diamonds in the 17th and 18th centuries. Today, the Argyle mine in north-western Australia is famous for the number of pinks it produces, and especially for generating the hugely coveted fullbodied hot pink diamonds.

In The Red Carpet
Pink diamonds have graced the red carpets of the hottest events. Actress Vivica Fox wore a sparkling pink diamond dress by Randi Rahm to the 2004 Oscars, and teamed it with pink and yellow diamond earrings and a pink flower ring. Actress Salma Hayek wore a 6.17 carat intense pink to the Academy Awards. Pop star Kelly Price wore a heart-shaped pink to the Grammys. Actress Calista Flockhart and supermodel Kate Moss adore their pastel pink diamonds.

Star Power
Pink diamonds really came into the spotlight recently, when actress Jennifer Lopez’s infamous 6.5 carat plush pink heartshaped diamond engagement ring drew the attention of the elite and fashionable across the world. After widely reported allegations that football player David Beckham had an affair with personal assistant Rebecca Loos, a well known UK newspaper reported that Beckham bought his wife a $1 million pink diamond ring as a surprise birthday present... to avoid being shown a red card by his wife Victoria.

Historical Trivia
In 1526, the Rajah of Agra presented Babur, the first Moghul Emperor, with the light pink Agra diamond as a present for sparing his life when Babur's son captured the city! Babur wore the diamond in his turban for many years.
